What if drag had space to breathe? What if your beloved community artists had a full theatre and studio time and space to give each other feedback? Sir Cum Sized dared to dream and I’ll tell you this- it’s full of feelings. Your faves are baring our souls and making vulnerable, risk taking art on Saturday to a full theatre. Will you be there filling it’s seats? This community has SO much talent; we have trained dancers, actors, singers, technicians, set creators, sound designers, musicians, and bonafide freaky geniuses ready to give it to you raw. Don’t miss this night of celebration of the EXPANNNNSIVE talents that can show up in…LONG FORM.
Note from the Editor
Hello, Stevie here.
I wanted to take a moment to thank all of my trans subscribers who are drag queens, kings, and things. Thank you for your artistry, your creativity, and the time, commitment, and skill you bring to your craft. I love what you do, and I love you for doing it.
Given the number of drag & burlesque shows I highlight in this newsletter, I wanted to acknowledge the recent anti-drag and anti-trans legislation in Tennessee. While it's true that in NYC we often appear safe from Republican majorities, the general cultural attitude towards gender performance and gender variance impacts us all. We stand on a tricky ledge, watching our siblings suffer in other states, knowing that this isn't happening to us directly, but that the present is no guarantee of the future.
May we all find balance between complacency and paranoia, and may we all hold tight to our joy. Thank you, to all our trans drag performers for being a cornerstone of our community, and for the joy you create.
If anyone has recommendations for Trans organizations in Tennessee to support, please send them my way so I can link them in next week's newsletters.
